CULTURAL PROJECTS
Brazil and Japan have a history that began over 100 years ago, with Brazil being considered the most "Japanese" country outside of Japan with a population of approximately 2 million Japanese and Japanese descendants.
The goal of our projects is to promote events that strengthen the ties between Brazil and Japan. Additionally, we aim to encourage and deepen the mutual understanding between Brazilian and Japanese people through culture.
THE BOSSA NOVA PROJECT
THE BOSSA NOVA PROJECT
Bossa Nova is a musical genre originated in Brazil in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The term "bossa nova" translates to "new trend" or "new way of doing things," and the genre was indeed a departure from the more traditional samba music that had dominated Brazilian music up to that point. The genre combines elements of samba, jazz, and blues, and often features complex harmonies and intricate guitar work.
In Japan, most people are familiar with Bossa Nova as the background music at cafes, but very few people know that those laid-back melodies and subtle rhythms derive from samba.
Bossa Nova remains relevant as it continues to influence artists nowadays, such as British artist Dua Lipa, or the Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto.
With “The Bossa Nova Project”, Nakaki Consulting aims to bring and introduce to Japan the beauty of the real samba and bossa nova.
